Machine Compare was founded by brothers Eric and Ben Findlay in 2014 with the vision of changing how the world trades industrial machinery and spare parts. Noticing the sheer volume of excess spare parts stock lying unused within factories worldwide, they knew something had to be done. Combining their backgrounds in travel commerce and specialised machinery sales, the unique brand idea and name was conceived: Machine Compare. As was the vision for launching a marketplace whereby sellers and buyers could trade unused, surplus stock.
Today, the hunt for spare part continues, having proven much bigger than initially anticipated – with over £5 billions worth of parts identified to date. And Machine Compare continues to grow, inviting an international base of industry buyers and sellers to make more sustainable decisions and ethical profits.
Following the devastating passing of Eric in 2019, after a short battle with cancer, his vision continues to live on in the company and platforms, quickly gaining momentum beyond the online sphere.
What we do
Machine Compare is home to one of the world’s largest databases for new and used machinery across industry verticals. In 2021, we launched our sister site and e-commerce platform, Marketplace. Our aim is to get unused, surplus and obsolete spare parts back into the market where they belong – helping set the circular economy in full swing. Become part of a global community of buyers and sellers and join the movement in changing how industry trades, globally.
