What are gaskets?

Gaskets are a type of elastomeric component or mechanical seal positioned between two mating surfaces to prevent leakage and protect against contamination. In turn, gaskets are used to protect moving parts against friction by separating surfaces and preventing them from rubbing against hard surfaces.

Gaskets can be manufactured in different types of materials such as metal, rubber, cork or paper, copper or foam. These components are commonly used in applications such as packaging, hygiene, noise and sound reduction, vibration and sealing.

Gaskets are robust by design and offer resistance against alkaline acids, gases, extreme temperatures, pressure, electromagnetic and electrical forces and chemicals.
