What are HDMI splitters?

HDMI splitters are types of electronic connector devices that are designed to split one source of HDMI line into multiple displays simultaneously. They are thus capable of serving two or more screens from a single device or source. For example, it allows users to display or stream a single subscription source or program into multiple television screens at the same time.

Types of HDMI splitters

HDMI splitters can be categorised into two major types. These are:

• HDMI cable splitter: This type of HDMI splitter is designed to split a single source on an HDMI cable into two HDMI cables. HDMI cable splitters are ideal for sending signals over short distances. 
• Network cable HDMI splitter: This type of HDMI splitter is compatible with Cat 5E and Cat 6 cables, allowing easy routing of signals across longer distances. As such, network cable HDMI splitters are better suited for a diverse range of applications.
