What are inverter drives?

Inverter drives refer to variable speed drives for electric motors, specifically designed to adjust the output and speed of the motors. They are also capable of converting AC power to DC power while enabling precise control by the users over the outputs. 

Also known as power converters, variable speed drives, adjustable speed drives, adjustable frequency drives, or frequency converters, inverter drives are ideal for reducing electrical energy waste in certain applications. Typically, inverter drives are available in single-phase or three-phase varieties.

How do inverter drives work?

Inverter drives have a comparatively simpler working mechanism. Specific parameters or frequencies are added to the device, which enables the inverter drives to be controlled with better accuracy and efficiency. Inverter drives, thus, remain between an electric motor and an electrical supply, providing the user handling the inverter drive to regulate the power supply according to the necessity of the particular application.
