What are test clips?

Test clips are physical testing devices that can temporarily connect a device to electronic test equipment or another component. They are typically used to establish a temporary electrical connection between two components. 

Types of test clips

Test clips come in different types. The most common ones include:

• Alligator, crocodile, and heavy-duty test clips: These types of test clips feature two jaws with serrated teeth, and are usually used to connect an electronic circuit and a measurement device.
• Grabbers and hooker style test clips: These types of test clips feature a J or hook-shaped contact to establish an electrical connection with a conductor. Grabbers and hooker-style test clips use spring tension to provide additional mechanical attachment as well.  
• Test clips for ICs: These types of test clips are designed to establish an electrical connection between an IC (integrated circuit) chip and a measurement.

Applications

Test clips are primarily used in the electronic industry, and are usually found in applications that require temporary yet secure electrical connections. For instance, they are widely used in testing, quality control inspection, servicing and maintenance, and repair services.
